Faith-formation classes for adults and children
St. John Fisher Parish is excited to announce G.I.F.T., a new faith formation opportunity for both children and adults to learn about and experience our faith in a new way! Beginning October 1st we will have classes and learning opportunities for all children in kindergarten through eighth grade and their parents, and a separate program for any other adults interested in deepening their faith.
For parents of enrolled children, one component of the G.I.F.T. program is a weekly online meeting focusing on the topic of that week’s lesson, with an emphasis on helping parents teach the children. The topic of the week is the same for all grades, but taught at the appropriate level for each grade. The students can choose from a traditional book, e-book, or both, and are expected to complete one 45-60-minute lesson each week at home. (Please note this is a repeat of the youth religious education program we recently held over the summer, so there is no need for you to sign up again if they participated in that program.)
We are also encouraging parents to use these materials to teach their children in small groups. Be creative! You can meet (respecting COVID guidelines) in someone’s home, a park, or any other place where families can gather and help each other bring our faith alive! If you would like more information about forming a group, please contact Jim in the parish office.
For other adults who do not have enrolled children, the G.I.F.T. program also has a separate adult faith formation module to help you learn about your faith and deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ. Every week we will host on online meeting to discuss a different topic focused on the adult aspects of our faith.
Registration forms for both programs are available to the left of this article and in the gathering space. The cost for the parent/child class is $125 per enrolled child; the adult class is $35. All of the online meetings will be live on Zoom but also recorded so that you can also watch them at a later date. The schedule for meetings will be determined by the availability of the majority of participants. Questions should be directed to Jim Crosby at jimc@sjfchurch.org or 513-561-9431 x113.
